Getting to retire feels a bit like winning the lottery.  Will it actually every happen to me?  If I don’t ever have to work again, what would that feel like?   What would I do with all that money and free time?

Then, you look around at all the retired people and they seem to be doing the same things.  Living somewhere warmer, (BC if they’re from Alberta, Arizona or Mexico if they’re from BC) and looking for friends to do things with.

Maybe they are living their dream or maybe they are just living someone else’s plan.  Maybe they are happy, maybe they are not.

Knowing how you want to spend your retirement time and money, is important. What would you do if you won the lottery? What would you do if you didn’t have to work anymore?  Go ahead, Dream!  Dream Big and then make plans to make it reality.

Ok, so it’s not that poetic, but it’s who I am.  I’m a planner and I like to think of myself as semi-retired at 46.  I started a business that I love nearly 20 years ago and it became my sole income when I left my six-figure corporate job with a plan to have more balance in my life.

Plan to have your best life possible in retirement and you will. Don’t and you may not.  Don’t leave your retirement to chance.
